This special whisky is the perfect marriage of oaky flavors from European sherry casks and creamy, sweet flavors from ex-American bourbon barrels. Bottled at cask strength, Laphroaig twenty-five year old is the perfect fusion of these two most different styles of maturation, made even smoother by the twenty-five years it has had gently maturing. The color is burnished gold, with a nose of initial sherry sweetness followed by an Islay peat tang. On the palate, a burst of peat is restrained by the sherry smoothness that develops into a spicy apple fruitiness. This non-chill-filtered offering won a double gold medal at the 2015 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and received a rating of 95 from the 2015 Ultimate Spirits Challenge.
