One of Jefferson’s favorite French wines, was Chateau Suduiraut, which he called “President du Roy,” an exceptional Sauternes. The sweetness of the Chateau Suduiraut wine and the toasted staves of the French oak wine casks would complement Jefferson Reserve’s well-aged, complex Kentucky Straight Bourbon whiskey. After handselecting forty Suduiraut barrels, refilling them and extra aging them in the proprietary “hot box” environment, a one-of-a-kind bourbon was created.
